Psi Eta Omega Her-Story

In 2006, the Centennial Pearls Interest Group formed to provide service to the communities of the Greater Columbus area. Most members of the group were reclaimed and reactivated members within the sorority. On Saturday, May 24, 2008, Schylbea J. Hopkins, 26th Great Lakes Regional Director, chartered Psi Eta Omega Chapter. Psi Eta Omega Chapter holds the honor and the distinction of being the first graduate chapter chartered under the administration of International President Barbara Anne McKinzie, and 26th Great Lakes Regional Director Schylbea J. Hopkins.

The ceremony and chartering celebration luncheon took place at the Holiday Inn Columbus-Worthington and the theme was "Sowing Seeds of Service." This memorable event was attended by members of surrounding chapters, fellow Greeks from National Pan-Hellenic organizations, friends and family of the 28 charter members of Psi Eta Omega Chapter. Lynn C. Chavers, Ph.D. was elected president during the first chapter meeting where Hopkins presided.
